News from the Garden

2001 was a good year for the garden and grounds atS t. Philip's. Many persons have stepped up to the plate and helped to move the grounds forward. Several families donated bulbs and plants from their yard to the church. We got a pickup truck load of agapanthus donated by one family. The cost of those plants would have been the entire garden budget if we had to purchase them. Another family donated tall lilies that I am hoping will bloom next year. Lewis Tree service has also been quite generous with the donation of several loads of wood chip mulch.  They even delivered it to our site! A big thank you goes out to them!
An anonymous donor gave the church a $50 gift certificate for Scarborough Garden Center. We were able to get a ton of plants with their $50, because there was a big landscape plant sale on when I found out we had the donation.
Our youth were also very helpful, especially Joey and Charlie Peyser, and John Wilson. They worked very diligently to clean up and replant the area by the flagpole. It looks a lot better now, thanks to their efforts! Steven Sanguinetti has also contributed a good amount of effort toward tidying up the facility. That is very much appreciated!
Lots of adults have also stepped up to the task of cleaning up the grounds. Sheryl McEwan did a Herculean amount of work to move the mulch off the parking lot and into the flower beds before the Christmas pageant. The Jackson family has also done a ton of work to improve the grounds over the past year. They are very much appreciated!   There are a lot of folks that have helped this year that I have not mentioned, but are still very much appreciated!
2002 is looking like it will be a very exciting year for the garden as well.
We are forming the Garden Guild this year for persons interested in ministry via the gardens and grounds. Persons interested in Garden crafts are also encouraged to join us. Later this spring, we will have a garden tea to
