Youth Groups

From Jenny Waggoner

Hello St. Philips!

Do you all know what a great group of youth we have here at St. Philip's?  I have so enjoyed the opportunity to develop relationships with each of them and get to know who they are.  I would love to see more interaction with members of the congregation and our youth.  I am in the process of gathering ideas and seeing what we can do.  So look for these opportunities in the future!
Last month our group went on a wonderful ski trip.  We had quite a crew.  It was a wonderful time for the youth to connect with each other as well as to connect with me.  I enjoyed hanging out with the youth!  We also spent some time discussing the value and significance of words.  All too often we flippantly say words which hurt others, either to their face or more often behind their back.  I am challenging the youth to think about the purpose of words--for the edifying and building up of one another, not the tearing down.  Perhaps we can encourage everyone in the church to have this same goal.
I thought I'd fill everyone in on the activities we have ahead.  Friday, March 1st we will meet at the church for game night--Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (prizes included,

though we haven't quite reached the $1,000,000 prizes yet…J).  We'll have pizza and games.  For the record, NA meets there during that time, so any youth who are not able to listen and obey the rules will immediately be sent home.  However,  let's have a lot of fun while respecting each other and property….7-9 PM at the church, $5.
Next, Friday, March 15th we will head over the hill to go ice skating!!
J  We'll be skating at the Logitech Ice Center.  The session is from 7:30 to 9:30 PM.  So we'll meet at the church at 6:00, stop for a bite to eat as we head over and then skate 'til our bums hurt!J  The cost is $8 to skate and rent.  We'll need parents to drive, so make sure you let me know if you want to go by the 11th so I can be sure we have enough drivers.  And parents, if you're available, we'd love to have you drive.
Finally, Friday, March 29th we'll have our Easter party--complete with egg hunt.  We'll do that early enough so that we can find the eggs outside--so 5-7 PM.  The cost is $5 to cover the food and candy.  Everyone needs to bring a dozen eggs, already stuffed with candy by the 25th so that I can have them hidden….
Well, that about sums it up….we've got a month full of fun!  Give me a call if you have any questions!!
J  Hope to see you and your friends.

Blessings!                                            Jenny J
