Garden News

Spring is an exciting time at St. Philip's Gardens. There are many wonderful projects occurring around the property.  The children's garden has been completely dug up and had gopher wire put underground. Later this year, the children will grow crops for the harvest festival there.  We have been blessed with a very large donation of wood chips from Lewis Tree Service.  We are working very feverishly to get the mulch off the parking lot and into the flower beds before Easter.  If there are kids who need community service, we have many areas where they are needed.   Serena Ellis has been working on  the hillside outside the Sanctuary. That is no small task.  There is a lot of weeding and mulching that needs to be done before the Garden tour that will occur Mother's Day weekend. We are also welcoming donations of plants for the plant  sale for the Garden tour.  Another project we are working on is creating nice outdoor seating areas. That involves growing flowering plants in that spot and figuring out how to get seating for cheap.  Since we don't have much money to work with, we are going to spray paint our nursery pots pretty colors and stencil designs into them.  Then we will get some 6 packs of flowering plants and make colorful pots of flowers. This is another area where help is needed.  There is exciting artwork that will be installed in the Serenity Garden later this year.  I will share more on that later.  Help is always needed and welcome.  Please contact me at or leave a message at the church office if you are interested in helping.   Thanks,  Tina
