Middle School Update

We’ve been busy in the Middle School class. The Rite-13ers have been working hard with their mentors. Please plan on coming to church March 28 to see the Rite-13 liturgy, we’re very proud of our 13 year olds. They will be feted with their parents Saturday night before the ceremony, by parents of last year’s Rite-13ers, Julie O’Brien and Mary Powers.

It has become clear during Sunday school class that we need to provide more time and space for our young teens away from their routine, to help them hear God’s love for them.  Therefore, we would really like to encourage the Middle School parents to consider allowing their kids to attend the New Beginnings retreat at Mt. Hermon Center this year.  The weekend is April 30 to May 2 and I’m hoping they all will be able to come!

In Sunday school we’ve been talking about God being like a potter.  The discussions have centered around how God molds people (like us) in several Bible stories.  Then we followed up with how we can mold people around us to be better.  In other words, we made some decisions about how we would be a good influence on our friends and families.  The Middle Schoolers came up with specific instances in which they were going to try to be a good influence and not be passive in their interactions.

There will be two Diocesan summer camps in July and I will be distributing flyers for those in the next month or so.

We’re also planning a fun trip to San Francisco, Saturday May 15th, to use some ferry boat passes that were donated to our youth group.  Mark the date!

Sunday School News

We are looking forward to our Easter celebration and Easter Egg Hunt. We have lots of plastic eggs available for filling.

Toddler Playgroup

The St. Philip’s Toddler Playgroup meets every Monday morning during the school year from 10:30 am to noon in St. Philip's Parish Hall.  Children play and moms share parenting information. We include some art work and parachute play. There are toys, books, and snacks for the kids, and, weather permitting, we enjoy exploring the grounds of the church and arranging the "dinosaur eggs" in the serenity garden. This is a great chance for parents to meet and chat while the kids have fun.

All parents and their infants/toddlers/preschoolers are welcome so invite your friends and come play with us!  If you have questions, please contact playgroup coordinator Julie O’Brien.

High School Update

Welcome to EASTER!

The Freshmen Wednesday night Bible study group continues on Wednesday evening. Contact Marie Sanguinetti (or Taylor Dodds) for more info. At least one-half of the group does not attend our church!

In Sunday School, the month of March focused on Jesus’ final days on earth, and the message he wanted to leave. We talked about the Holy Spirit, and Jesus foretelling of Him and the many names given the Spirit to help us: Comforter, etc.

HAPPENING!

What’s Happening? You ask?  Well, ask Annie Yabroff who has attended. I strongly recommend it and it will be local this time. Friday evening to Sunday afternoon of fun, spiritual reflection, activities, new friends … ask Annie. Date to be disclosed soon.

MOVIE NIGHT THIS SATURDAY, MARCH 27. Stay in touch with myself or Marie for details.

We continue to have lunch after church, which has been a great time of fellowship (getting to know each other, encouraging our faith). It has been a combo High School/College lunch lately, with some of our Bethany students.  A good time.

I will seek Christ in all persons.
(Baptism Vow … remember?)
(With Gods help)

Love you guys! And remember, it does not matter how long you have been unable to be in church or Sunday night Bible Study or whatever. You are ALWAYS welcome, anytime.

God is.
