Dear Acolytes,

Thank you for your continued participation in our services on Sunday and at special events. You are an amazing group of dedicated young people, and so many have expressed appreciation for your contribution.

After June 13, we'll have a more relaxed summer schedule. For the summer, Father Martin extends an open invitation to you to serve simply by showing up on Sunday, in time to vest before service, whenever you attend church.

We'll celebrate the completion of another wonderful year with a pool party at our house, on Sunday June 13th, just after church, as we did in the fall. If any parents are available to help supervise or drive, please let us know. We'll meet in the parking lot after church, and be back to St. Philip’s by 2pm.

For the fall, we plan to host a session on the history of the acolytes, followed by food and fun! I'll be calling the Senior Acolytes to gather their input. Please write, if you have any other suggestions.

Enjoy the spring!

Dear Friends and Family of St. Philip’s,

I will be graduating college this month with my certification for Addictions Counseling. After graduating, I will be moving to Minneapolis, MN to work with a ministry called Source Ministries (www.sourcemn.org). “Source” is a Christian ministry that works with urban youth. I will be participating in a six-month internship to learn how to work in an urban setting, and I will hopefully be able to use my certification to help start a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program within the ministry. I will, however, need help funding my internship. The cost will be about $250 a month in addition to my cost of living. I will be working in addition to attending the internship, but if God lays it on your heart to help sponsor my ministry in Minneapolis, that would be a blessing to me. I will be keeping in contact by news letters via mail and internet as well. If you would like to receive a newsletter, please e-mail me or send me a letter via post to the addresses below. This congregation has been a blessing in my life, and it has been wonderful to be able to worship with you during this time in my life.

May God bless you and keep you.

Vacation Reminder

As all of you prepare to leave on your summer vacations (or holidays, as the case may be), your Bishop's Committee would like to encourage you to bring your pledge up to date before you leave. Summertime is always tough on the church's cash flow, and with no tenant upstairs this year could be worse than usual. Thank you very much for your generosity, and have a wonderful summer with your family and friends!

Text Box: A little boy opened the big family bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages. "Mama, look what I found", the boy called out.
"What have you got there, dear?"
With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, "I think it's Adam's underwear!"
Text Box: After the christening of his baby brother in church, Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car. His father asked him three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, "That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home, and I wanted to stay with you guys."
