Trivia Night!!

You haven't forgotten, have you? June 26th is the night you can really flaunt all that useful knowledge you have acquired over a lifetime. You will be amazed what an asset you will be to your team. There will be questions of every kind: silly ones, clever ones, Bible questions and new rounds which I shall not divulge!

Now for the details: You may either host a table of all your best friends and/or relations, or join a table. Now is the time to seek out those friends and neighbors who have been toying with the idea of coming to St. Philip’s but have not quite got there. How about those friends with kids, who don't get out much. We shall try and have child care available, so it would be a fun and inexpensive night out (just $10 per person, which is as cheap as a night out at the movies!). What about the person who used to go to church but has not found the right fit. I am sure you have told them all about the Garden Tour and what a welcoming place St. Philip’s is, and how you don't have to be a perfect person to be welcome!

Anyhow, having either assembled your group or joined a group, then decide on a theme for your table.....for instance, the first table I hosted had an “Under The Sea” theme. We dressed as sailors, pirates, mermaids etc and feasted on crab and clam chowder. We decorated the table with fish and lobsters and nets and things...you get the picture!

We shall raffle off some incredible prizes for the best table and for the wining team. At the same time you will all have the best night out.

I would like to start the seating plan now, so what are you waiting for? Give me a call and I'll tell you anything else you may need to know.

Fellowship Dinner Groups

I will be in Vermont from June 5 to mid-October. I will continue to coordinate the dinner groups using mail, phone, and particularly e-mail.

The next round of dinners will be the last of September, October, and the first of November. Please let me know of any changes or suggestions you have. To those not in Dinner Groups, please let me know if you wish to be included. They are a wonderful way to meet the very fine and interesting people of St Philip’s.

Text Box: While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar wilt. Apparently, his 5-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that a proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased. The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his Father always said: "Glory be unto the Faaaather, and unto the Sonnn ... and into the hole he gooooes."

Text Box: A friend was coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside. The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!" My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?" He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service."
