Dinner Groups in April and May

I am assuming that the original dinner group participants will still be on board for the next round. Geoff and Diana Karna have asked to be added. The next dinner dates will be: Sat. April 17, Sat. April 24, Sun. May 2, Sat. May 15, and Sat. May 22. Please e-mail, call, or sign up in church for all of the dates you are available as soon as you decide. We will match different couples again by random computer selection so that you will meet someone different each time. There are currently 44 people involved in the dinner groups. If anyone would like to be added or subtracted from the list, please let me know.

Yours in St Philip’s fellowship,
Bill Lages, Dinner Group Coordinator

Sunday School News

Ash Wednesday is on February 25. It was requested that the service be early so that the school-aged children could attend.

Lent: We’re planning a special visit from some Biblical character on March 28. Tod Connor has agreed to this undertaking. Vicky has a book that contains monologues from different people who were close to Jesus. We want to have a run-through to see if this could work into a summer theme for Sunday School.

Easter is on April 11 and we will hold the traditional Easter Egg Hunt. Eve Yabroff has agreed to be in charge of this event. We will again be asking the congregation to contribute eggs or help fill the eggs that we have.

Music: Nancy would like to work with the kids on Easter songs and perhaps a dance for the celebration of the feast of St. Philip on May 2. We may also try teaching the kids to sing "Jesus Loves Me" in several languages on Pentecost (May 30). Plus there is a fun song we could try for Palm Sunday called "The People Shout Hosanna".

Fun and Games: We are hoping to arrange a “games” afternoon for the Sunday School. We could have tables of Bunco or Bingo, trivia or charades. We have not yet set a date for this. Another good possibility would be to have a movie night at the church with popcorn and sleeping bags in the parish hall.

High School Update

First, congratulations to Katherine Rolly, Taylor Dodds, and Marie Sanguinetti on their Confirmation last Sunday. It was a beautiful service and the lunch with the Bishop afterwards was nice.

They have taken the next step in their walk with Christ and their communion with the Body of Christ. Please remember them in prayer as they face challenges in their lives while in pursuit of holiness.

Next, the Freshmen Wednesday Night Bible Study group finished a four-week series on knowing Christ, led by Marie Sanguinetti (with Taylor).

In Sunday School, the month of February was Drugs and Alcohol month. We have had special guest speakers and it is a topic that parents and kids need to constantly monitor.

We will be looking to Lent and bringing it into our Sunday School and Sr./Jr. Sunday night group. What is Lent you ask? Come and see.

I will seek Christ in all persons.
(Baptism Vow … remember?)
(With Gods help)

Love you guys! And remember, it does not matter how long you have been unable to be in church or Sunday night Bible Study or whatever. You are ALWAYS welcome, anytime.

And thanks to everyone for your condolences on the loss of my father last month. It has helped. God is.
