Pictorial Directory

There are still quite a number of directories waiting to be picked up in the foyer or in the office.  If you are on the roster, there is a labeled directory for you.  If you cannot find yours, please contact me and I shall make sure you get one.

If any of your information in the directory is incorrect or changes in the future, please let me know.  I should like to see updates published in the newsletter, so that we can all keep our directories as current as possible.

Cursillo Weekend: May 13-16

Cursillo is a weekend experience (for adults) of Christian community and going deeper in faith. It is a lay-led weekend, with laypersons sharing their experiences, and conversation in small groups. There is a lot of singing and celebration, as well as reflection and prayer. This ecumenical experience begins on a Thursday evening and runs to Sunday afternoon. Fr. Martin will be one of the Spiritual Directors for this weekend. Please see him, Dave Sanguinetti, Bill Kelly or any other “Cursillistas” to learn more or to consider attending.

To:    Rectors, Vicars, Wardens, Vestry Members, Delegates and Alternates, Lay members of diocesan bodies, and all interested laity of ECR

The Standing Committee is planning a special Lay Conference on Saturday, May 22 to give the laity of the diocese an opportunity to

1) Learn more about and discuss the situation in our diocese.

2) Help plan for its future and the call of a new bishop.

We hope that this Lay Conference will be marked by transparency and openness. It will be facilitated by the Rev. Ron Reed and Mr. Dale Simison. Fr. Reed is the former Director of the Office of Stewardship Education of the Episcopal Church, and Mr. Simison assisted our diocese in the formation of the El Camino Real Foundation. Other than Ron Reed, no clergy will be present. This is an event for the laity. The outcome and suggestions of the Conference will be reported to the clergy when they gather for their facilitated Clergy Conference the following week.

We hope that members of all congregations in our diocese will attend, so your voices may be heard. We encourage members of your Vestry, Convention Delegates and Alternates, and all interested congregational leaders to attend so that all congregations in our diocese are represented. The Lay Conference will be held on May 22 at 10 am at St. Stephen's in the Field, San Jose. Lunch will be provided, so please let the diocesan office know how many people to expect.

Choir and Special Music

The choir will be practicing regularly on the second and fourth Sundays of the month, after the 10 am service (and a quick coffee!).  We will aim to be finished by 12:15 pm.  All are welcome to join us and to provide suggestions for choir pieces.  We have no formal direction, but we aim to bless our Lord and our congregation with the offering (if not perfection!) of our music, once or twice a month.  On the days we will be singing during the service, we will have a run-through starting at 9:30 am.

In addition, anyone with some skill with a musical instrument is encouraged to make an offering of his/her talent – don’t hide your light under a bushel!

If you have any questions or wish to schedule your musical offering, please contact me.
