Evensong Concert Series

St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Los Gatos will be presenting an Evensong Concert Series at 4 pm on the first Sunday of each month from October through May with traditional Anglican Evensong sung by the St. Luke's Choir. The service of Evensong is a musical setting of the Episcopal Evening Prayer service and includes singing of hymns, psalms, canticles, and prayers, and may include a short sermon. The service lasts about 20 minutes and is followed by a concert of approximately 40 minutes. All Evensong Concerts are open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken to support this program and the net proceeds for each performance will be donated to the social service listed. The first three performances in the series are: on Oct. 3 (St. Luke's Choir, with proceeds given to Santa Maria Urban Ministry); on Nov. 7 (The Bay Bells -- handbells -- with proceeds given to St. Luke's Pantry Program); and on Dec. 5 (Camerata California, with proceeds given to Christmas Gift Tree). St. Luke’s is located at: 20 University Ave, Los Gatos. For more information, contact St. Luke's at (408) 354-2195 or at www.stlukeslg.org

Acolyting is No “Trivial Pursuit”

What does acolyte history have in common with board games? Acolytes, mark your calendars for Sunday, Nov. 7 (11:45 am-1:00 pm) in the Parish Hall and find out! Nathaniel and Bob O'Brien will treat us to a brief history of acolytes in the church and how the role has changed in recent years. Pizza lunch and games will follow. Bring your favorite board game to play after lunch!

We're looking forward to another great year together! We frequently receive comments on how fortunate we are at St. Philip's to have such a dedicated group of young people, sharing their faith, and demonstrating their capabilities to do so many important things. Please give a high five to Alex, Gillian, and Jessica who have completed a year of service and moved from Junior Acolytes to Acolytes. Thank you also to William, Chris, Hannah L., Simon, Kelsey, Hannah P., Jonathan, and Thomas for continuing their work. Also special thanks are due to our Senior Acolytes: Nathaniel, Andrew, and Simon. Please join us in a warm welcome to our new Junior Acolytes: Christina Mills, Michael Levy, Katrina Luque, Tim Potts, and Annie Finch. Congratulations to all for your contribution to the services at St. Philip's. Have a great week!
