New ANDIAMO! Youth Choir

Andiamo! Youth Choir will begin rehearsals Saturday, October 1, 10:30-12:30 at the UCSC Music Center. The choir provides children ages 8-14 with excellent vocal training and choral group experience, and supports families in their study of music. Older siblings and parents are also welcome. Andiamo! (Italian for Let’s Go!) describes the dynamic nature of this new youth choir, as well as that of its conductor, Jean-Sébastien Vallée. Vallée’s vibrant style sets the mark high for youth choirs. Vallée conducted summer workshops in Québec for young performers at the Accord Parfait Music Academy and staged L’Opèra de la Lune.  In addition to directing choirs for The Saguenay-Lac-St. Jean Music Academy and Sherbrooke University, Vallée currently conducts the Women’s Choir at UCSC, and is Assistant Conductor for the UCSC orchestra, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Opera Theater choirs. This autumnal concert celebrates the convergence of the approaching Celtic New Year Shamhuinn (Scots Gaelic pronounce: "Having") and the release of Deby Benton Grosjean's new CD. Grosjean (French pronounce: "Grow shawn") will be fiddling around the musical landscapes of Scotland, Ireland, Brittany and beyond. Deby is fortunate to share the stage with a stellar line up:  Grammy winner William Coulter on guitar, Barry Phillips on cello, David Brewer on pipes & whistles, Shelley Phillips on oboe, Jesse Autumn on Celtic harp and Kevin Di Noto on steel pans & percussion and other special guests! Her music is intimate and melodious. She's received awards regionally and nationally in Scots fiddle competitions. Known for her skillful bow control, she's received special national award for her artful airs in the form of a engraved whiskey cup.

On Saturday, September 10, several members of our congregation met at the DeRouchey residence for a beautiful, fun, and loving celebration of the upcoming birth of Noah, son of Jong and Scot.  It was a lovely day and a wonderful time was had by all.  Pictured above are Jong and Kelsey.  To the right seated clockwise from top are Annie, Tamah, Sara, and Donna.

CONGRATULATIONS JONG, SCOT, KELSEY & ANDREW!
