Prayer Triplets.

About a year ago I wrote about prayer triplets, groups of three people meeting together to pray. Time went on and a few people signed up . I waited for more, time went on, the list got displaced, found, then lost again. So I apologise to those who signed up and who I failed.

If you would like to be part of a small prayer group and would care to sign up on the list in the foyer then I will make sure that the groups get started. If you are not sure about joining but would like to try even for a short time then I would encourage you to have a go. I don’t know anybody who is a prayer expert and it’s as much about listening as talking to God so everyone will have something to give and to receive. Different people have different ways of praying and we can all do with some help and encouragement. As a church it is also an important time for us to be praying as we seek a new priest and a new Bishop in our Diocese. The world needs our prayers and what better way than to get together with other members of St. Philip’s and spend a short time in prayer either in church or in a home. You will find some more notes by the sign up sheet and I will be happy to try to answer any questions you might have.

Interim Ministry Network

Next week, September 26 to 30, I will be in Los Angeles as one of the trainers at the Interim Ministry Network’s program for those who are exploring opportunities as intentional interim clergy.  Both Nancy and I are very active in the IMN.  Nancy is on the Board of Directors and I am a member of the Professional Designation Committee and the Faculty.  Interim Clergy don’t just grow on trees!  We are given excellent opportunities to learn how interim ministry has unique challenges which are very different from those faced by settled clergy.

The IMN is not just an organization for Episcopal clergy.  It is truly an ecumenical group and its members represent over thirty denominations in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.  All of us have in common our love for working with congregations in transition.  In addition, my opportunity to train others helps me to keep my own skills well honed.  Please remember to both pray for and support those who have chosen this particular path to exercise the ministry that God has called them to follow.

Yours in Christ,

        The Reverend Barry Miller
