A Living History Concert: Sex, religion and politics were his favorite subjects. He was an ardent ladies man whose songs get their hands up under the clothing faster than any others. He was a poet of the people who believed a person's sense meant more than their status. He was a fervent Scot whose songs helped keep Scottish music alive when the English burned fiddles to suppress it. He was Robert Burns. Come celebrate his 247th birthday with simpatico Santa Cruz Celtic musicians Deby Benton-Grosjean-fiddle, William Coulter-guitar, David Brewer-highland and cauldwind pipes, Jesse Autumn-double harp and others. You'll also hear the up-and-coming musicians of the Community Music School Teen Celtic Band, and Cape Breton Dancers will perform as well. We will be exploring a new larger venue: the historic auditorium at Branciforte Elementary School, Branciforte and Water Streets in Santa Cruz on Sunday, January 22, 2006 at 2:00 PM. Oat scones and tea will be served at intermission, and there will be a silent auction to raise money for teen Celtic camp. Tickets are $10 in advance, and may be ordered by mail using a credit card by calling Westside Stories at 457-2021. All proceeds benefit the Community Music School.
