Mardi’s Memos
Notes from our office manager

Some of you may remember the Reverend William A. Sassman speaking to the congregation on January 29th. He introduced us to a ministry called “Food for the Poor”, an organization saving the poor throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. “Operation Starfish” is about to begin at St. Philip’s. The 8am congregants have challenged the 10am congregants to raise enough money for a house ($2,000.00). Look for “Operation Starfish” collection boxes in the foyer and at the Children’s Sunday school. Please call Jack Doscher, Donna Seelbach, or Carter Potts for details. We hope to build two houses and have the funds collected by Easter.

Episcopal Marriage Encounter weekend, April 21-23, 2006, in Pleasanton. Marriage Encounter is 44 hours where married couples can get away from jobs, chores, kids, and phones and focus only on each other. If you would like greater enrichment in your relationship, you will like the difference an Episcopal Marriage Encounter weekend can make. Please contact: Curt and Arlene McClelland, 2191 Casa Mia, San Jose, CA 95124, 408-371-5581, curt @ sbcglobal.net or go to www.episcopalme.com.

Volunteers needed: We are currently in need of volunteers at the 10am service for Servers, Ushers, and Counters. The counter volunteers would work with a member of the Bishop’s Committee to count and deposit the Sunday morning contributions. The only stipulation is you can not be related to the member of the Bishop’s Committee who you are working with (example: husband-wife, father-daughter, etc.). These volunteer jobs usually require being available once a month. Please call Mardi in the office if you are interested.

Desperately Seeking . . .
Gardens for the Spring Garden Tour
2006

Please consider having your garden entered in this year's Garden Tour on May 13. It doesn't have to be a large garden or a particularly spectacular garden. But, without any gardens, we will not be able to have a Garden Tour and Luncheon. This event has raised close to $4,000 in the past years and this year we need those funds as much as ever!!!

Laura has graciously stepped forward to Chair the event this year.  Please book this day in your calendar and get the word out to your friends who may want to enjoy some beautiful gardens and, of course, some tea and scones,

If you have any questions, or would like someone to look at your garden for consideration, please contact Laura or Sheryl.
