St. Philip’s 2006 Garden Tour and English Tea LuncheonThe 4th annual St. Philip’s Garden Tour and English Tea Luncheon is scheduled for Saturday, May 13th. We have most of the gardens lined up, including two charming neighboring gardens in Felton, Love Apple Farm in Ben Lomond, a creekside garden off Glenwood, and a true collector’s garden on Weston Rd. Please pray for us as we work to find two more gardens, preferably in Whispering Pines, Rolling Woods or Pasatiempo. If you have any leads, please contact Laura Gonzalez. We will need lots of volunteers from the congregation to make the Garden Tour the big success it's been in past years. On the day of the tour we will need docents for the gardens, people on the front desk to take tickets and check reservations, people to sell raffle tickets, sell garden art and plants, etc. On the day before the tour we will be setting up the tables in the parish hall and on the patio and decorating for the big event. There will be plenty of jobs to do that day, and the more people who can help, the faster it will go. Then there's clean-up afterward. It usually goes pretty fast when we have lots of helpers to clear tables, wash and dry and put away dishes. We definitely need one or two persons to be in charge of that. Those of you who helped last year and in years past, can count on being called to serve once again. Please do say "yes." We need everybody's helping hands and abilities to make this work. If you see any jobs listed above that you would especially like to do, please call Karen Krestensen or e-mail. Laura Gonzalez, Chair |
Special AcknowledgementsThe congregation of St. Philip’s would like to express its deepest appreciation and gratitude to Bob O’Brien for 14 years of service as St. Philip’s treasurer and to Marcus Granger-Jones for 7 years of service as St. Philip’s bookkeeper. We have been tremendously fortunate to have the invaluable financial expertise of these two wonderful people to guide us smoothly through all the financial intricacies of running a mission church and keeping it solvent. As treasurer, Bob has led the Finance Committee in evaluating the church’s finances and making recommendations to the Bishop’s Committee on some very difficult decisions. As bookkeeper, Marcus has categorized all income and expenses so the church can best manage its resources. Between the two of them, Bob and Marcus have helped the church with financial structure and planning, produced monthly financial reports and quarterly pledge statements, assisted with budget design, reconciled our monthly bank statements, and maintained complete and accurate accounting records of church operations. Thank you, Bob and Marcus, for so many years of dedicated leadership, hard work, and expert guidance in the financial ministry of St. Philip’s. |

Jonathan’s science project entitled “Smoke on the Rope.” evaluated the various burn rates of several flammable liquids.
