CRAFT FAIR - OCTOBER 2006—Leadership NeededWe are still looking for a couple of people to take over as Chairs of the Harvest & Holiday Craft Fair in October. Vendors are already asking about it and applications need to be sent out during the summer. Last year the booths filled up within a month after the invitation and applications were mailed out, so there won't be any problem finding vendors! This event raised approx. $4,000 for our Church and these are much needed funds. If no one comes forward to run the event (it is NOT a lot of work) IT WILL NOT HAPPEN!!!Please consider chairing this event. Contact Nancy Jackson for more information. |
Spotlight on the Wonderful St. Philip’s RentersThis month: Kevin Hislop of KRH Education Consulting Have you wondered what is happening upstairs after Triad left? For our small church, in a challenging year, it has been a test. Fortunately, there was someone “upstairs” watching out for us. That someone came in the form of Bill DeRouchey. He obtained and installed new carpeting, painted a bit, and put a sign out front advertising individual office space. Our first renter was Debby Dodds, doing survey research. Next came Craig Turek, Marriage and Family Counselor. It got busy after that. We now have Kevin Hislop, Education Consultant, Goal Line Property Investments, Open Sky Property Investments, and a couple of local hobbyists looking for extra space and quiet out of the home. To finish it off, our own famed artist, Val Peyser, has graced the walls with some striking art from her new abstract collection. Check out our renters. You may benefit from their services, and they would certainly benefit from our patronage. KRH Education Consulting, founded by Kevin Hislop, M.A. in Education, specializes in helping students, parents, and schools achieve their highest academic potential. The heart of his business is: · Academic Tutoring, K-12. · College Admissions Counseling, 7-14. · Organization and Motivation Solutions for Students and Parents, K-12 · Schoolwide Program Development, K-12. Kevin is incomparable. There is no other way to put it. He excelled both academically and athletically at nationally ranked Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, performed well at a top-five liberal arts school, Carleton College in Minnesota, and earned his M.A. in Education degree from San Francisco State University. Kevin served his early education years teaching and helping disadvantaged youth in San Francisco, founded a charter school, and has been a Dean of Students. As Kevin relates it, he fell in love with a “local girl” and is now happily married, living here, coaching football at the high school, tutoring, and mentoring our local students to access their academic potential. If you think that your student could benefit from help on specific assignments, help with certain subjects, or help preparing for the highly competitive world of college admissions, come see him. Kevin offers all families a free one-hour consultation. If you don’t need him, he will tell you that as well, offering a realistic educational view for parents. Honest, forthright, passionate, a tremendous value, and conveniently located directly upstairs! What more could you want in someone helping your student “achieve their highest academic potential?” Kevin can be reached by phone or email. By the way we have one double space left if you know anyone who could use it! Debby Dodds, |
