Bishop’s Committee Meeting Summary

Clarifications on Inaccuracies

In the April Newsletter I described Mardi’s title as Administrative Assistant; she is the Office Manager and Church Secretary.  In addition, I stated that St. Philip’s has an agreement with Mardi for 20 hours a week when in reality she is contracted for 15 hours a week.  My apologies for any confusion this may have caused.

Vicar’s Corner – Father John Duncan

-   The Episcopal Church in Sudan is in need of donations for the terrible conditions they exist under.  Please contact Fr. John if you would like to contribute.

-   According to recent attendance, it appears that St. Philip’s attendance has stabilized after falling in the wake of Martin’s departure.

-   Please come and welcome the Bishop as he will be visiting St. Philip’s on Sunday July 9

-   Praise goes out to the fantastic job the many church volunteers did to make this year’s Garden Tour an immense success.

-   In light of all the change we are experiencing, it is important to focus on St. Philip’s assets and not on its needs.  If you are interested, please get the book “The Great Permission” and learn to celebrate what our congregation posses rather than on what it lacks.

Treasurer’s Report

As stated in earlier reports the financial condition of St. Philip’s has forced us to forgo “Fair Share” payments to the Diocese.  However, cash flow has improved over the last month, and it has been decided to renew payment.  In addition, as we get closer to calling a new Vicar, Bill DeRouchey will make available St. Philip’s 2006 financial statement along with the past years Annual Reports to our Candidates to review during the final interviewing process.

Settled Vicar Search

The Search Committee has recommended two candidates for the Bishop’s Committee to review and make a recommendation for calling as settled Vicar of St. Philip’s to the Bishop.  In the next two weeks, we will be interviewing both finalists and giving them a tour of the area.  It is our plan to meet on Wednesday, June 7 and decide which one will be called.  The selection will then go before the Bishop for his approval.  Both candidates are undergoing a background investigation that can take up to 6 weeks.  As such, we should be able to announce the choice by the middle of June while realistically it will be at least August before our candidate can begin.
