Grace GiversIf you need a little grace, call on us! If someone is in the hospital and we can bring some meals over to help the family cope – call us! If someone is in the hospital and time is dragging by; if they could use a little company – call us! If someone is too ill to get out, but needs a prescription picked up – call us! If you know someone who is sick – call us! The very least we can do is to send them a card that lets them know that their church family is thinking of them! This is NOT an exclusive group; we would like to have everyone join us! IF YOU COULD HELP ONCE IN A WHILE - CALL US! Speak to Valerie Sims |
A Gem from CanterburyWhen we were in Canterbury, I went to Evensong. It was wonderful. During the service the Prayers of the People consisted of the following prayer. I thought it was particularly wonderful and wanted to pass it along to you for Saint Philip’s in any way that make sense. Julie Levy Humility Prayer I asked for strength that I might achieve, I asked for health that I might do greater things, I asked for riches that I might be happy, I asked for power that I might have people's praise, I asked for all things that I might enjoy life, I got nothing that I had asked for Almost despite myself my unspoken prayers were answered. Pentecost Sunday : “Suddenly there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm and it filled the house where they were sitting” Acts 2:2 To celebrate the occasion of this wonderful gift from God, we ask the congregation to wear red / flame colors and to bring something to share in our traditional potluck brunch following the 10 am. service. New members are invited to sign the Parish Register at the end of each service. Email or call Lucy Gowan if you need any further information. |

The Art of DialogueHere is a thought I recently came across in a monastery newsletter. For me Dialogue is an Anglican custom, and a customary challenge in many Christian issues. The Reverend Bill Kelly “Dialogue is an art that we learn in the humility so central to the Gospel message. We acknowledge that we do not have all the answers, and we respond simply to the challenge to live the Gospel mandate, to love honestly with God and neighbor. “Dialogue is growing to know and appreciate one another, but it is much more than being cognizant of facts about the other. It is entering into the experience of the other, and seeing from within as the other sees. It is leaving our secure perches and crossing over to meet the other where he or she is, and then returning home fully renewed and enriched.” Brother Richard,, |
