What a night of revelry and mental gymnastics!. From the Weird to the Wonderful, the Parish Hall overflowed with St. Philip’s members (at least I think that's who they were!!) and their friends and families, who gathered to pit their wits against each other in our 5th Trivia Night. Themes this time ranged from Pirates of the Caribbean, to the World Cup, Keep Santa Cruz Weird, Gypsies, Australians, and a motley crew of Baseball Fans! The sights and smells of dishes suitable to the theme of each table wafted temptingly, and people gathered to share appetizers; then each settled down to dine on exotic and mouth watering dishes, then on to be challenged by this year's trivia. |

Vicky and Marcus Granger-Jones had worked hard to put together a series of questions on a huge assortment of topics including of course the True or False, and Bible rounds but also many new and even more challenging topics. After four grueling rounds of questions, we took a well-earned break and shared impressive desserts then back to finish off the questions. An intrepid team of Australians … all mysteriously named Sheila or Bruce … wiped the floor with the remaining teams and won for the Highest Scoring Team. |

They were presented with the traditional flowers and looked very pleased with their efforts. The Best Looking Table was a group of noisy and none-too-smart Gypsies who appeared to revel in their ignorance!! This year we presented a trophy, upon which we shall mark the names of the Best Table and keep it on display in the Parish Hall. While the adults had fun making fools of themselves, the children were superbly entertained by Hannah Potts and Lauren Powers under the amazing supervision of Nathaniel "Prior" O'Brien. Since there were 24 children, it was a huge task, carried out with patience and good humor. Thank you so much to Nathaniel, Hannah and Lauren!! I bet you were tired. Well done to all who participated. It was a wonderful night of fellowship, friendship and fun. See you next time? Lucy Gowan |
