The St. Philip’s Sunday School presents Pastor Mary with a decorated pomegranate tree.
The pomegranate is an ancient symbol of abundance and good luck.  Jewish tradition teaches that it is a symbol
for righteousness, because it is said to have 613 seeds, the number of mitzvot or commandments of the Torah.
For this reason and others many Jews eat pomegranates on Rosh Hashanah.
