Installation of Pastor Mary as Vicar of St. Philip’s

Saturday, October 28, 2006

A packed house, including many of Mary’s parishioners from
St. Jude’s in Cupertino, came to celebrate this special occasion.

Rev. Karen Siegfriedt, Rector of St. Jude’s, found many parallels between Mary and Zacchaeus, the wealthy tax collector who climbed a tree to get a glimpse of Jesus.

Mary received many gifts, practical and symbolic, as part of the service: Bible, water, stole, oil, key, Canons, sacraments, pillows made up of quilted squares from the children, and running shoes (for running her new parish).

Mary’s friends from St. Jude’s created a beautiful farewell quilt, filled with scenes and symbols that remind her of her many wonderful years there.
