Get Centered at ComplineWhy not take a break from the busyness of Christmas preparations and stop by St. Philip’s for Compline, a quiet meditative service held Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the Church Sanctuary. Trappist monk and founding member of the Christian centering prayer movement, Thomas Keating, says that “centering prayer is not just a method of prayer, it is a way of life” (Sojourners Magazine, December 2006, p. 37). Built into the Compline Prayer Service at St. Philip’s is a time of reflective and centering prayer. Come try this in community with others who can show you the way, and then see if you might want to learn centering prayer as a way of life, to carry you into a deeper Christian faith and a more balanced, healthy life in the New Year. |
