A New Way to Link Up With the St. Philip’s Prayer Chain

We have a very active Prayer Chain here at St. Philip's.  Each one of you that participate in this vital ministry are truly devoted servants of our Lord as well as St. Philip's.  Our list continues to grow and does not appear to be getting smaller.  It takes time to read all the names during church services and some names seem to remain for such a long time.

Pastor Mary, Mardi Jensen, and I had a discussion and we decided to adopt a new format to make praying for all much easier and to make sure no one is left out.

All and any requests will be placed on the list and will remain on the list for one month.  Please give the name of the people needing prayers and a short explanation of why we are praying for them.  Also please give your name when you make the request so you can be acknowledged for your caring and compassion.  Once your requests are on the list please update us as to how they are doing (surgery, employment, etc.).  These updates will be duly noted and sent out to the Prayer Chain.  If you feel that the person for whom you requested prayers no longer needs to be on the list, please notify the church office or Bobbie .  For those of you who do not have computers but would like a copy of the prayer list, please let me know and I will be happy to mail it to you.  After one month I will prayerfully remove the parties from the list and we may continue to remember them in our personal prayer time.

I will be implementing the new format some time this week and do hope this will be agreeable to all.  I am open to suggestions and if anyone has some ideas to share please do so either to Pastor Mary, Mardi, or me.  We all benefit from prayer - those doing the praying and those on the receiving end.  Again, thank you so much for your dedicated participation in this vital ministry.  You make it work.  God's Blessings,

Thank You For Prayers

Thank you all for prayers for Ben, from the Worth family. Benjamin arrived home last night from Stanford after two operations this week. His positive attitude, perseverance, and patience are three additional reasons why someone so young earned his third degree black belt last year! You should see his precise forms and outstanding back flips. You can read more about his progress on his website: www.caringbridge.org/visit/benworth.
Ben’s family knows your prayers are being answered. We look forward to when you all can meet our friend Ben.

Prayer for Staying Centered

Gracious God, when my life is moving along at break-neck speed, I feel so distracted from the things that are really important to my heart and soul. It seems like my lack of focus keeps me from paying attention to what really nourishes me. Help me learn to give less priority to what only leaves me feeling empty. Remind me that when I give priority to what is really important everything else falls into place with greater ease. I ask this for the sake of your love. Amen.

From The Little Prince

by Antoine de Saint Exupéry

The fox gazed at the little prince, for a long time.

“Please – tame me!” he said.

“I want to, very much,” the little prince replied. “But I have not much time. I have friends to discover, and a great many things to understand.”

“One only understands the things that one tames,” said the fox. “Men have no more time to understand anything. They buy things all ready made at the shops. But there is no shop anywhere where one can buy friendship, and so men have no friends any more. If you want a friend, tame me…”

“What must I do, to tame you?” asked the little prince.

“You must be very patient,” replied the fox. “First you will sit down at a little distance from me—like that—in the grass. I shall look at you out of the corner of my eye, and you will say nothing. Words are the source of misunderstandings. But you will sit a little closer to me, every day…”
