A New Way to Link Up With the St. Philip’s Prayer Chain

We have a very active Prayer Chain here at St. Philip's.  Each one of you that participate in this vital ministry are truly devoted servants of our Lord as well as St. Philip's.  Our list continues to grow and does not appear to be getting smaller.  It takes time to read all the names during church services and some names seem to remain for such a long time.  We have decided to adopt a new format to make praying for all much easier and to make sure no one is left out.

All and any requests will be placed on the list and will remain on the list for one month.  Please give the name of the people needing prayers and a short explanation of why we are praying for them.  Also please give your name when you make the request so you can be acknowledged for your caring and compassion.  Once your requests are on the list please update us as to how they are doing (surgery, employment, etc.).  These updates will be duly noted and sent out to the Prayer Chain.  If you feel that the person for whom you requested prayers no longer needs to be on the list, please notify Bobbie.  For those of you who do not have computers but would like a copy of the prayer list, please let me know and I will be happy to mail it to you.  After one month I will prayerfully remove the parties from the list and we may continue to remember them in our personal prayer time.

Our Spiritual Life

GOD SENT US A SAVIOR

If our greatest need had been information,
God would have sent us an educator.

If our greatest need had been technology,
God would have sent us a scientist.

If our greatest need had been money,
God would have sent us an economist.

If our greatest need had been entertainment,
God would have sent us an entertainer.

But our greatest need was forgiveness and love
...so God sent us a Savior.

Prayers for a Young Sailor

Pastor Mary asks for prayers for a young man in the navy, Kernen Dibble. Kernen was a teenager from Sunnyvale who came to Pastor Mary’s parish with his aunt. His parents didn’t go to church. He was seeking something meaningful in his life, and found a wonderful “spiritual family” to support him through those turbulent teen years. Under the leadership of Pastor Mary and her baptism and confirmation class for teens and adults, Kernen was baptized at age 15, and has continued his quest for listening to how God is leading him to serve. In response to a life-long interest in serving in the Navy, Kernen enlisted in August 2001, and began his training in January 2002. He serves as a Fire Control Technician Second Class stationed aboard the USS Bulkeley (DDG-84) stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.

How to Stay Safe
in the World Today

1. Avoid riding in automobiles ... because they are responsible for 20% of all fatal accidents.

2. Do not stay home ... because 17% of all accidents occur in the home.

Prayers for House to Sell

Please pray for the Blessing’s house to sell soon. Pray for safe travel during Mary’s stressful hour-long commute from Morgan Hill to Scotts Valley. Pray for serenity as the Blessings repeatedly scurry to tidy the house as last-minute looky-loos drop by. Pray that we may soon have Mary and Jim living closer to their new church family at St. Philip’s.             —Karin and Carter

Therefore, common logic tells us that the safest place for you to be at any given time is at church. And ... Bible Study is safe too. The percentage of deaths during Bible Study is even less. So, for safety's sake, attend church and Bible Study. IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!

5. Avoid hospitals ... because 32% of all deaths occur at hospitals.

6.But, you will be pleased to learn that only .001% of deaths occur in worship services at church, and these are usually related to previous physical disorders.

3. Avoid walking on streets or sidewalks ... because 14% of all accidents occur to pedestrians.

4. Avoid traveling by air, rail or water ...
because 16% of all accidents involve these forms of transportation.

He was deployed June to December 2006 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Please pray for Kernen and all men and women who serve to bring peace to our world through their service in the military.
