A Message from Your Bishop’s Committee |
March 20, 2007 Bishop’s Committee Meeting SummaryBy: Jane Ellis, Bishop’s Committee Clerk Treasurers Report A letter to the Diocese outlining a proposed plan for repayment of the outstanding Fair Share contribution is being finalized. In order for this plan to be considered, the Finance Committee had to revise the 2007 budget to generate a zero balance. Approval of this plan will allow our representatives to vote for the election of the new bishop. Approval will also keep us on track to apply for parish status in October 2007, with hopes that this will be voted upon at the Diocesan Convention in October 2008, so that St. Philip the Apostle may be made a parish in January 2009. Facilities Report A yoga class will be conducted at St. Philip’s two mornings a week. A proposal by a non-profit Vista Charter School to use the facility two days a week is being considered. Specific repairs and upgrades, identified by Debby Dodds for the rental suites’ exterior entrance area and by Don Roth for the rest of the facility, are being prioritized and put in motion. A work day was scheduled for March 31. Vicar’s Report The BC was unable to conduct Rev. Mary’s first 6 Month Interim Performance Review in March, due in part to the absence of the Bishop’s Warden. A mutual ministry review is planned for the main order of business during the May BC meeting. Volunteer Report Tod Connor has agreed to be the Junior Warden. Jane Ellis has agreed to become the Clerk of the BC, freeing all elected BC members to engage fully in discussions and decisions. Thanks go to David Sanguinetti for having done such a stellar job in this area for the past year. St. Philip’s 20th Anniversary Celebration Pastor Mary announced the intention to make the 20th anniversary of the founding of St. Philip the Apostle, All Saint’s Day, November 4, a very special occasion. Founding Father Martin Yabroff has accepted the invitation to participate. |
New Leadership RolesA number of people have recently accepted new duties at St. Philip’s, or are about to start their service. Tod Connor is our new Junior Warden, functioning as facility liaison to the Bishop’s Committee. Jane Ellis is our new Clerk. Her service with the BC will free the elected membership to concentrate on prayerful decision making and allow them to focus roles in ministry. The Finance Committee has new leaders starting on April 1: Steve Dodds is our new Treasurer, and Bob O’Brien will serve as Bookkeeper. Don Roth continues to be our “fix it” coordinator? (Don says he is “Val Jackson Lite”.) THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING ON THESE IMPORTANT MINISTRIES!!! |
