St Philip's bought the 10,000 sq. ft. church campus in 1995. The property was originally a motel which was converted into a recovery center. After we purchased it, the building was extensively remodeled into the present church, worship and community center. The property is located on one of the two main thoroughfares in Scotts Valley and is highly visible and accessible. |
The facility comprises a large foyer with baptismal font, worship area, parish hall, two church offices, four Sunday school rooms, nursery, kitchen two community rooms and an upstairs annex with nine commercial rental units. The grounds include a parking lot, serenity garden, redwood grove with patio area and an open grassy & wilderness space, ideal for Easter egg hunts. The parking lot has space for fifty cars and ample overflow parking near by. |
The worship area has flexible seating with movable altar and communion rails. It is presently configured to seat one hundred eighty people. All the areas of the church and community areas are accessible by wheelchair. |

Above the entrance hangs a one hundred year old bell that was donated to us by a local Assemblies of God congregation. Ringing the bell, to call the congregation to worship, is a popular activity for our younger members. The use of the building by the community is seen as a form of outreach. Over twenty five different groups use our facility in any given month including |

girl & boy scouts, twelve step groups, Interfaith Satellite Shelter Program, Local PTAs and various crafts groups. The fabric of the building is managed and maintained by a building committee. The grounds are lovingly cared for by a group of dedicated gardeners and their efforts have been recognized by the city council. |

Maintaining this large and somewhat dated facility is a constant challenge for our Church Members, but there is scope and enthusiasm for further development. |
